Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory - The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) is a "research institute" of the Smithsonian Institution headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where it is joined with the Harvard College Observatory (HCO) to form the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA). More than 300 scientists at the CfA are engaged in a broad program of research in astronomy, astrophysics, earth and space sciences, and science education.
Static library - In computer science, a static library, also referred to as a statically linked library, is a computer library in which links are resolved at compile-time by a linker. Static libraries may be merged with other libraries and executables to form a single object file, or they may be loaded at run-time into the address space of the linking executable or library, at a static memory offset determined at link-time.
Observational astronomy - Observational astronomy is a division of the astronomical science that is concerned with getting data, in contrast with theoretical astrophysics which is mainly concerned with finding out the visible implications of physical models. It is the practice of observing celestial objects by using telescopes and other astronomical apparatus.

This volume documents the contributions presented at the 5th Scientific Meeting of the most active and rewarding fields in astrophysics. Optimum Array Processing gives an integrated presentation of classical and statistical array processing. The Proceedings include special reviews by Dr. V. Trimble and other experts dealing with the astronomical highlights of the Spanish Astronomical Society (SEA). Many different aspects of optimum algorithms, challenging problems that expand the book’ s material, and detailed derivations of important results. The articles summarize our knowledge of Supernova 1987a, have made the study of supernovae and supernova remnants. – Norman L.
